lyrics
Do You Hear that Old Ship's Song?
We raise the flag, we sway like slurring speech,
we swing like dead men, hanging from a sycamore as our spirits wait below.
We need to know who pulls the strings,
We need to find out how to make ends meet.
Ends to our means, means everything ends how we mean to end.
As the smoke clears out, and the flares sail out,
the sky reflects the sea.
First we're carved from the veins of the trees with roots so deep you can hear your family sing, the sacred hymns, that sang us soft asleep.
Just as your eyes grow older, they cut you down and exploit your deepest secrets, stories of age, spelled out with concentric circles.
We've been circling the Atlantic Ocean, with each day running with a repeat motion, with the only ones I love, my friends, my brothers and me.
All it took was an ultimatum for the few of us to change the present course, but mutiny came and left, and now we're strung up, tied, just to watch the captain laugh.
Ends to our means, means everything
we need to learn becomes the sum of our existence.
Everyone we love, gets swept up with the current.
Whether you choose to sail without the wind, in the end we all sing the same song.
(As the smoke clears out, and the flares sail out,
the sky reflects the sea.)
